IDEA Foundations Learning Strands

Guided by the latest research on inclusive learning, our curriculum supports the goals of developing​ self, building relationships, and connecting with the wider world. The learning objectives within each strand are grouped by grades.

 

We have designed our learning objectives to ensure progression in learning and understanding as students grow.

​

Our learning strands are in alignment with the Social Justice Standards: The Teaching Tolerance Anti-Bias Framework and the National Personal, Social, Health, and Economic (PSHE) learning standards. 

The purchase of the IDEA Foundations K-5 Curriculum grants schools access to our online portal. Here, educators will have an abundance of resources at their fingertips, including: 

 

  • 8 Units of Learning: Similarities and Differences, Pieces of Me: Exploring Identity, Circles of Community, What is Inclusion and Why Does it Matter?, Empathy and Understanding, Equality, Equity, and Fairness, Standing Up for What is Right, A is for Action

​

  • 144 Lessons complete with Learning Slides, Teacher Scripts, and Reflect and Respond worksheets to track student progress 

​

  • 48 Physical Copies of diverse, grade appropriate Mentor Texts (8 books per grade)

 

  • 48 Sets of Discussion Questions to guide interactive read alouds

 

  • 40 Optional Extension Activities (5 activities per unit)

 

  • 8 Literacy Guides with a total of 64 suggested texts, directly linked to unit themes and learning objectives 

 

  • 8 Unit Overviews with instructional guidance for teachers 

 

  • Guidance for implementing an end-of-year IDEA Showcase, complete with a Letter to Families, Student Reflection, and Student Certificates

 

  • Full Scope-and-Sequence with clear learning objectives to track student growth
